Behind the Scenes with Paris Jackson
From shredding electric guitars to stomping runways. Paris Jackson strikes out on her latest endeavor: big, bold beauty. Get a peek behind the lines of the Tattoo Pencil Liner campaign and learn how to get Paris’ signature graphic liner look.
Paris Jackson does it all: shines on screen, thrashes on stage, splashes on glossy magazines. She’s a certified supernova. Bold is in her blood. No better pick to help launch our collection’s latest expansion—Tattoo Pencil Liner.
“As an artist, I was immediately drawn to KVD Beauty for their commitment to artistry and self-expression, both of which are huge parts of my personal identity,” she says.
As versatile + artful as Paris, Tattoo Pencil Liner's ultra-smooth formula glides on immediate pigment impact. At first stroke, you can go anywhere. Smudge it out into grunge-struck haze while it’s malleable. Layer on multiple shades for a plume of dimensional depth. Line precisely + let it dry for a matte-graphic effect. Limits? We don’t know her. Get infinitely expressive in 10 bold mattes. Paris goes on: “I also appreciate how the brand brings tattoos and cosmetics together in such a beautiful way. Paired with the fact that they’re 100% vegan and cruelty free, this partnership with KVD Beauty feels truly organic and I cannot wait for all the exciting things to come.”
Paris is the face. But our very own Veritas Artist, Anthony Nguyen, summoned the magic. Here’s how he achieved this instantly iconic graphic-grunge look.
STEP 1: LAYER THE SMOKE
Sketch in a feline wing with MADDER RED. Work in small strokes, blending as you go. Tattoo Pencil Liner tends to set quick. Once you’ve established your shape, layer on TROOPER BLACK to singe the outer edge with smoke.
STEP 2: THE REVERSE CAT EYE
Let’s get precise. Use [MADDER RED] on your lower lash line, following the shape out into a wing. Take care not to go on to your upper lid—it’s all about the undereye. Use a small angled brush to shape your line into a wicked edge.
Repeat with [TROOPER BLACK], blending the red into a flame-burnt shadow. If you need more precision, smear Tattoo Pencil Liner on the back of your hand like it’s a painter’s palette. Use your angled brush to dip + apply.
STEP 3: LEVITATING LINER
Your angled brush is your new best friend. Get to know her. Keep applying TROOPER BLACK + MADDER RED to the back of your hand. Use that angled brush to draw a floating liner. Easier read than done. Some tips: use the shape you drew in step 1 to anchor your line. Start your flick at the tail of your brow, aiming for the inner corner.
Also—don’t be scared to spin it. Eyes come in infinite shapes + sizes. Tailor the line to your eye. Don’t want to take the line in all the way? Don’t. Just keep the flick on the outside. Not a lot of lid space? Shorten the line into a well-placed, sharp + graphic shape on the outer corner.
STEP 4: BRING ON THE STORM
Time to add some sparks. Take Dazzle Stick in THUNDERCLOUD to your lid. Blend into your smoky eye with a fluffy brush—or just use your finger to tap-tap-tap the edges. Catch the inner corner, too.
Use the angled brush to refine the edges of your liner in case the sparks interrupt your shapes. Remember: this look’s all about sharp lines. Protect their edge at all costs.
How’d it turn out? Badass, we bet. Show off your artistry by tagging us @KVDBEAUTY everywhere. We might just repost your look—because we stay inspired by our wildly creative community.
